Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How is Sound Heart good for me?
A: Sound Heart creates a seamless heart program that combines the best of both hospitals. You will be able to access services at both facilities that best meet your needs, have coordinated care among specialists and programs, and benefit from a culture of teamwork and excellence. The end result is better support of the patient/doctor relationship and outstanding patient care.

Sound Heart streamlines its cardiac service line. It helps stretch resources further so we can invest in cardiac research and development.

Q: Which hospital will I go to?
A: For the immediate future, the hospitals will invest in the existing programs of greatest strength. In general terms, Evergreen will continue to be the place for heart-disease management, rehabilitation, diagnostic evaluation, acute myocardial infarction (percutaneous coronary intervention, or PCI) treatment and education. Overlake will continue to provide electrophysiology, cardiovascular intervention (percutaneous coronary/peripheral Intervention, research studies, and open-heart surgery and valve repair/replacement surgery). If you are a cardiac patient right now - receiving care at either hospital - there won't be any changes.
Q: How do physicians fit into decision making for Sound Heart?
A: Physicians are at the core of Sound Heart's leadership principle. They will work to refine the current program where it makes sense. Sound Heart will encourage the adoption of best patient-care practices from both hospitals.
