Shared Governance
Led by physicians, Sound Heart is designed to maximize the two separate cultures of Overlake and Evergreen hospitals. The shared governance model guides the clinical shape and direction for Sound Heart.
Shared governance concepts include:
- Developing an organizational, multidisciplinary structure that fosters professional excellence;
- Involving physicians (primary care and specialists) in decision making on matters that affect patient care;
- Maintaining a climate in which clinical excellence and optimal patient care are encouraged through accountability; and
- Establishing policies and procedures that support high standards, above and beyond those established by JCAHO and other state and federal laws.
